One a Swedish fashion model and the other a British-Indian businessman, Sonu and Eva Shivdasani founded the Soneva brand with a vision of true luxury in mind. After initially creating Soneva Fushi – a stripped-back, barefoot idyll – on the deserted Maldivian island of Kunfunadhoo back in 1995, they formed the base for a global brand comprising of world-class, luxury hotels, resorts and spas.

Soneva Fushi is fifty seven vast villas and private residences, ranging from one to nine bedrooms, all hidden amongst dense foliage within touching distance of a pristine, UNESCO protected Biosphere Reserve.

Surrounded by crystal clear waters and lush tropical greenery, Soneva Jani offers a collection of exquisite island sanctuaries. Spacious luxury water villas boast striking design, some even complete with water slide and retractable roof.

Soneva Kiri, their first resort in Thailand, is an eco-friendly outpost dedicated to the ideal of ‘no shoes, no news’ intelligent luxury. Guests are accommodated in incredibly spacious private pool villas and residences imbued with rustic charm – set along the white sand beachfront or hillside.

Soneva Fushi

Out of the Blue: Dine on Vietnamese, Japanese and Indonesian cuisine, salads, grilled meats and seafood. This area also includes: So Hot – a robata grill, josper grill and pizza area; So Guilty – the chocolate and ice cream parlours; and So Cheesy – our cheese room.

Fresh in the Garden: Dine high above our gardens, where the aromas of the herbs waft up from below. The central open kitchen gives you front-row seats to the action. Choose to sit under cover or beneath the starry night sky.

Once Upon a Table: A culinary theatre showcasing some of the biggest names in fine dining. There is no menu, allowing the creativity and skills of the chef to take centre stage.

So Hands On by Akira: Our sushi counter sees some of the world’s best sushi masters behind its sake-polished Japanese pine, known as ‘hinoki’, counter top. The intimate five-seater sushi counter lets you experience the chef’s dextrous skills up close.

Overseas by Mathias Dahlgren: From the mind of acclaimed Swedish chef, Mathias Dahlgren, the Overseas’ menu is an ode to organic produce and the sea. Dine on pescatarian, vegetarian and plant-based single plates, sharing plates and signature dishes for lunch and dinner.

Guess Who’s Cooking: Dine on a secret menu, prepared by one of our chefs, in a secret, ever-changing location. There is no menu, with each dish tailored to your preferences. Our chef will reveal themselves only after the meal, to talk about the concept, ingredients and what inspired them. It is advised that guests book before 16:00 on Thursday.

The Crab Shack: With an upstairs deck for watching the sunset, try the Sri Lankan Mud Crab curry, or the Alaskan crabs that rotate through the week. A selection of rosés are the highlight of the drinks menu. Recently voted as the ‘World’s Most Romantic Restaurant’ on CNN.com.

So Wild By Diana Von Cranach: Dine on a health-conscious, plant-based menu designed by the innovative raw food chef Diana Von Cranach, showcasing unique and simple dishes that revive historical, nearly-forgotten traditional recipes from the Indonesian Spice Islands and South East Asia. Ninety per cent of the ingredients come freshly picked from Soneva Jani’s organic garden and most dishes will be raw. Expect some unusual ingredients, as well as healing herbs and botanics.

Soneva Kiri

The View: Take in the stunning view out across the Gulf of Thailand while experiencing Nikkei cuisine, a fusion of flavours from Japan and Peru. Chef Christophe effortlessly blends the delicacy and nuance of Japanese culinary traditions with the vibrant and zesty flavours of Peru.

Kruua Mae Tuk (Tuk’s Kitchen): Thai gourmet restaurant, with a ‘no-menu’ dining concept and a vast selection of dishes that are inspired by ingredients grown on Koh Kood, Koh Chang, and seafood caught by local fishermen.

The Dining Room: Perched atop rocky cliffs, The Dining Room entreats you to share in moments. At breakfast, bask in a leisurely ambiance as you choose from an array of enticing morning delights. Take your pick from a wealth of global dishes and specialities at dinner.

So Spirited: So Spirited is our poolside restaurant perched on a cliff, overlooking the sea beyond. Savour sweet juices from local Thai fruits, snack on late-afternoon bites, and enjoy a wide range of cocktails and mocktails to cool off after a day in the sun.

The Wine Cellar: Our Wine Cellar features more than 350 labels, all presented in a climate-controlled cave, with organic and biodynamic wines making up more than 50% of the collection. Our resident master Sommelier holds regular wine tasting evenings with canapés and chocolates.

Down to Earth by Chef Umed: Chef Umed delights guests with traditional Northern Frontier cuisine with a touch of Middle Eastern influences and the subtle flavours of the north of India. Hear tales of how the dishes he prepares come from the old days of Indian Kings and Queens.

So Chilled: Our renowned Ice Cream Parlour features a chilled wall of more than 60 flavours of ice creams and sorbets.

So Deli-cious: This dining venue features a circular glass vault that holds the finest cheeses and cold cuts from around the world, in addition to a menu of gourmet platters ideal for snacking.

So Guilty: A chocolate lover’s paradise, here the cocoa goodness is presented in blends of up to 95%, be it in the form of mousses, cookies, drinks, bonbons or truffles.

South Beach: Dine beneath palm trees with your toes in the snow-white sand and choose from pit-cooked meats and seafood, barbecues, burgers, sandwiches and more. Sip on refreshing cocktails and coolers, ice cold beers or smoothies.

Every visit makes you feel young again. Watching movies in Cinema Paradiso, deciding between sixty flavours of ice cream, eleven types of pillow, five hundred different wines, six different restaurants and countless destination dining options too. Children are well looked after at the state-of-the-art children’s Den whilst adults indulge in a variety of body treatments and specialist traditions in the Six Senses Spa.

At Soneva Jani, activities are aplenty; watch classic movies under a blanket of twinkling stars at Cinema Paradiso, indulge in a variety of treatments at the spa or dive over-board on a snorkelling excursion and discover colour-popping coral.

Young guests can feed their imagination at the ultimate playground, from playing dress up as their favourite fantasy character to getting green fingers in the gardens, or even helping to protect the local turtle population. In the centre of the resort stands The Gathering, an impressive three-storey overwater structure, home to a library, spa, retail area and various dining outlets such as The Gathering Bar and Wine Cellar.
